The Lion and The Lamb

(Adapted from A Mom’s Impression)

March is here and the weather is confirming the age-old saying, “March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.” Have fun playing with them while you wait for winter to move along into spring. With this craft you can also do a fun activity with your kids where every day in March you can decide what the weather is like, either like a lamb or a lion. This is a great conversation topic for littles or you could even track the weather on a chart to see how the month plays out.

You’ll Need:

  • Paper plates

  • Construction paper - orange, yellow and black

  • Cotton balls

  • Craft sticks

  • Googly eyes

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Markers

  • Tape

To Make:

For the Lion

  1. Cut strips 1″ wide from the orange construction paper and roll them up between your fingers to make them curl.

  2. Glue the orange strips around the outer edge of the paper plate.

  3. Cut a circle out of the yellow construction paper for the lion face and glue on the center of the paper plate.

  4. Glue the googly eyes on and draw a face for the lion.

For the Lamb

  1. Cut a face for the lamb out of the black construction paper and glue it on the center of the paper plate.

  2. Fill in the outside space around the lamb's face with lots of fluffy cotton balls.

  3. Glue the googly eyes on and draw a face for the lamb.

Attach the craft stick at the bottom with either glue or tape and you are all set!

Tip: You can make this craft on one plate so that one side is the Lion and the other is the Lamb, or you can make them on separate plates.
