Rainy Day Craft: Indoor Race Track

 
 

Perfect for a rainy day, this tape race track comes together in minutes and provides unlimited fun. This is a fun activity to set up for play dates as well!

 

What you’ll need:

  • Any type of opaque tape - masking, craft or painters tape

  • Permanent markers and crayons

  • Construction paper

  • Scissors

 
 

Make your track:

  1. Clear a space on the floor, you can even go off-road and make your track run over the sofa, coffee table, ottoman, etc. 

  2. Run the tape in a single line around your space as desired to make a nice long loop of track. You can include some parking, intersections, bridges (over furniture) and obstacles for fun!

  3. Using the permanent marker, draw line markers down the center of your road for added visual effect.

  4. Add to the space by including toy cars, trucks, trains, people and animal figurines. You can even cut out some shapes of houses, bushes, ponds, farmland, etc. to lay next to your track. Enlist your children’s help to decorate the buildings with markers or crayons.

    * The best part of this activity is that you can make it as simple or as intricate as you want (or have time for). We enjoy leaving it set up for a few days so the kids have time to play at their own pace.
