This French Yogurt Cake is a popular French recipe that is forgiving and simple to make. The fun part about this cake is that you use a yogurt container for all of the measuring - making it fun and easy for the little ones to measure and bake. Enjoy in the afternoon with some tea or our favorite - for breakfast!
Tip: Don’t get caught up in the perfection of measuring and such - I promise this cake is delicious no matter!
What you’ll need:
2 (6 oz) containers of plain yogurt (keep containers for measuring the other ingredients)
2 containers sugar (or just one depending on how sweet you’d like your cake)
Just under 1 container of vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 containers flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Extras: Blueberries or Chocolate Chips are delicious additions
To do:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Use vegetable oil to grease a 9-inch round cake, bundt or loaf pan.
Gently combine yogurt, eggs, sugar, vanilla and oil.
In a separate bowl mix together flour and baking powder.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix gently until just combined (do not over mix).
You can add 2 containers of fresh or frozen berries, chocolate chips or any flavoring you’d like.
Bake for 35 - 45 minutes or until a knife comes out clean. It should be almost crispy on the outside but springy inside.
Delicious on its own or with a dusting with powdered sugar or a dollop of crème fraîche.
