Small Batch Homemade Applesauce
What you’ll need:
6 large apples *using different varieties will yield a more flavorful sauce but feel free to use whatever you have on hand or is readily available to you*
Apple cider or water
Vanilla
Butter
Salt
Cinnamon Sugar
To do:
Peel and cut apples into 1 inch pieces. Place these into your large pot.
Add about 1 inch of water or cider to add moisture and prevent burning.
Cook on medium till the apples are tender and allow to cool completely.
Once apples are cool have the kiddos mash them into applesauce with a potato masher or a blender until you’ve reached desired texture.
Pop the applesauce back onto the stove and heat on low till warmed through. Add a splash of vanilla, a pinch of salt, a thin pad of butter and a dash of cinnamon sugar. Stir to combine.
If your sauce remains thinner than you prefer just simmer on the stove while stirring regularly and it will thicken.
Enjoy warm or cold with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top for good measure!
