Thankful Tress

This cute thankful tree is perfect for crafting with your kids and then decorating your home with it. Take the opportunity to discuss gratitude and what you are grateful for in your life. Then have them write what they're thankful for throughout the season.

What you’ll need:

  • Sticks and twigs

  • Container to hold your “tree”

  • Construction paper - autumn colors are typically used but whatever your family or child prefers works perfectly well

  • Scissors

  • Pens, markers or pencils

  • Hole punch

  • String

To do:

  1. Take a stroll around your yard, neighborhood or local park. Gather up some nice sized twigs to use as your “Thankful Tree”.

  2. Once you’ve collected enough for a substantial bundle, place them in your container to make your “Thankful Tree”.

  3. Cut out leaf shapes from your construction paper. You can freehand them or trace from real leave or templates.

  4. Punch a hole at the end of each one and string a piece of string through for hanging.

  5. Every day have each family member write something they are thankful for on a leaf and hang it on your “Thankful Tree”. This can be a wonderful opportunity to create a seasonal tradition, a rhythm in your day and a time to learn more about your family and what they are grateful for in life.
