Five Little Pumpkins

This sweet seasonal poem, familiar to many families, is a fun one to go along with a Halloween craft. Have your little ones create their own jack ‘o lanterns or use the printable provided. Decorate your spooky scene with stars, lanterns and even a ghost or two!

You’ll Need:

  • Dark construction paper

  • Markers, crayons, or paint

  • Chalk, white crayon, or white paint

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Materials to make the fence (cardboard, craft sticks, sticks from outdoors, or construction paper all work well)

  • Pumpkin Activity Page printed out or you can draw your own pumpkins

To Make:

  1. Draw and color in your own pumpkins, or use the printable activity page. Make sure there are 5 all together!

  2. Cut out your pumpkins and set them aside.

  3. Build a gate on the dark construction paper using your choice of materials and glue it down when you are satisfied with the design.

  4. Glue your pumpkins onto their spots on the gate.

  5. Decorate! Use chalk, white crayons, or even white paint to decorate the night sky. Is there a witch in the air? Are there stars? Is there a light or lantern? Can you draw the wind that blows out that light? What else could be creeping by the pumpkins on a spooky Halloween night? Boo!

 Five Little Pumpkins

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate,

The first one said, “Oh my! It’s getting late!”

The second one said, “There are witches in the air!”

The third one said, “But we don’t care!”

The fourth one said, “Let's run and run and run!”

The fifth one said, “I’m ready for some fun!”

Woooooo went the wind and OUT went the lights,

And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.
