Picnic Trail Mix

 
 

Hey little adventurers! Get ready to create the most delicious, colorful, and totally customizable picnic snack ever. This easy recipe is perfect for little hands to mix, measure, and munch – bringing some serious fun to your outdoor eating experience. 


Ingredients: 

  • 2 cups Rice Chex type of cereal

  • 2 cups Cheerios type cereal

  • 3/4 cup pepitas (pumpkin seeds)

  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup chocolate covered sunflower seeds

  • 1/2 cup dried blueberries or other preferred dried fruit

  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar (optional)

To Make: 

  1. Put cereal and pepitas in a large, microwave-safe bowl.

  2. Pour in the melted butter and stir well to coat.

  3. Sprinkle in cinnamon (and sugar if using) while stirring. 

  4. Microwave 90 seconds. Stir and microwave for an additional 90 seconds.

  5. Spread on a baking sheet to cool.

  6. When cool, add dried blueberries and sunflower seeds and mix thoroughly.

  7. Portion into bags and enjoy a snack!
