Eeeek Spiders!

Here’s a fun and classic craft to enjoy with the kids this Halloween season. Courtesy of all preschool teachers everywhere, these spiders are sure to be a hit!

What you’ll need:

  • Paper egg carton

  • Black paint

  • Black pipe cleaners

  • Googly eyes

  • White crayon or colored pencil

  • Glue

  • Hole punch

  • Optional: accessorize your spiders with other colorful paint or pipe cleaner options. Even some glitter paint or glitter glue to add some sparkle.

To do:

  1. Cut a cell out of the egg carton. This will be your spider's body.

  2. Paint the outside of the egg carton with black paint (or whatever color spider your kiddo wants to make). Go grab a snack and let them dry for a bit.

  3. After the paint is dry, add your googly eyes with a dab of glue and use your white crayon or colored pencil to decorate your spider's face.

  4. Punch holes on the sides of the spider body for the legs.

  5. Cut the pipe cleaners in half to make the legs. Slide the pipe cleaners into the holes for the spider's legs. Flip your spider over and give the pipe cleaners a little bend so the legs are secure, bend them to shape the legs.

  6. Enjoy your little spiders by using them in Halloween decor, hanging them from the doorways or hiding them in places to give a good spook!
