The Napp Standard
Sitter & Family Guidelines
As a Napp sitter or family, you’re responsible for upholding these standards during every #napptime. They’re designed to create a safe, thoughtful, and trusted experience for everyone in the Napp network.
Before Your Gig
Sitters
Review all gig details in the Napp app, including the address, family members, pets, allergies, and notes about each child.
Text your family 24 hours before the gig:
“Hi, this is [name], your Napp sitter! I’m looking forward to meeting you tomorrow. Please let me know if there’s anything I should know ahead of time that isn’t listed in the Napp app.”
Families
Include all important information in the gig notes so your sitter can review it ahead of time. This may include illness, an uncertain end time, driving needs, or anything else they should know.
Clearly indicate whether the sitter will be caring only for your children or for additional children. If additional children will be present, adjust your rate accordingly.
When You Arrive
Sitters
Arrive on time and clock in at the confirmed start time. If you arrive early, wait to clock in until the agreed-upon start time.
Introduce yourself warmly. Smile, offer a handshake, and greet the children by name.
Engage with the children right away. Let them know you’re happy to be there and excited to spend time with them. The family will typically give you a quick rundown of the evening and schedule.
Families
Communication is key. Walk your sitter through your preferred approach to care, your children’s needs, household rules, and anything else they should know.
Give your sitter a quick tour of the house and show them how anything they may need works, including lights, alarms, TVs, etc. Be clear about anything you don’t want them to use.
Let your sitter know when you expect to return. If you may need flexibility with the end time, confirm that works for them ahead of time.
While You’re On the Clock
Sitters
Go the extra mile. Tidy up as you go: do the dishes, pick up toys, fold throw blankets, straighten pillows, push in dining chairs, empty the trash, and leave the home a little better than you found it.
Keep families connected. When it’s safe to do so, send a photo or quick selfie of the children having fun. Parents love knowing their kids are happy and enjoying their time with you.
Be fun, engaged, and memorable. Your focus is the children. When they’re excited to see you and happy you’re there, families are much more likely to feel the same, and book you again.
Families
Relax and enjoy your time away. Trust that your children are in good hands within the Napp network.
Check in once during the gig and remind your sitter to reach out if they have any questions or concerns.
If you’re running late, communicate as soon as possible. Call or text your sitter and confirm that the new timing works for them. Things happen, but your sitter may have plans or commitments after the gig.
At the End of Your Gig
Sitters
Welcome the parents home and take a moment to connect. Ask how their evening went, then give them a thoughtful recap of your time together:
How did the children behave?
Did they eat well?
Did they sleep?
What did you do together?
Was there any TV or screen time?
Is there anything else the parents should know?
Be open and honest. Families appreciate knowing how their children’s time with you went.
Clock out as soon as you leave the house. If you forgot or waited to clock out, adjust your time so your recorded hours are accurate.
Families
Ask your sitter about the evening and anything you’d like to know. If you want specifics, ask!
Thank your sitter for their time and make sure they safely get to their car or otherwise begin their journey home.
After Your Gig
Sitters & Families
Payment happens automatically through the Napp app when the sitter clocks out. A receipt will be sent by email, and payouts typically take 1–2 days to complete.
Leave an honest review and rating for your #napptime experience.
Connect with your sitter or family through the Napp app. These connections help build trust and give future families and sitters confidence when booking within the network.
Keep Napp relationships on Napp. Anyone you meet through the Napp network must continue to be booked through Napp. We want you to build lasting relationships with families and sitters you love, but relationships developed through Napp and then continued off-platform are grounds for termination from the Napp network.
Most importantly, enjoy your #napptime!
