Hot Cocoa Mug Cake
A great winter snack that's easy for parents to make with kids is Hot Cocoa Mug Cakes. It's a fun, cozy treat that combines the warmth of hot chocolate with the excitement of baking, and it's simple enough for young kids to help with.
You'll Need:
4 tbsp all-purpose flour
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1/8 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
3 tbsp milk
2 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate chips, mini marshmallows or whipped cream (optional, but fun for topping)
To Make:
Mix dry ingredients: In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Add wet ingredients: Stir in milk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.(Optional) Add chocolate chips or marshmallows: For extra fun, you can add a few mini chocolate chips or marshmallows into the batter.
Microwave: Microwave the mug on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds (or until the cake has risen and is firm to the touch).
Top and serve: Add marshmallows and microwave for an additional 10-15 seconds to melt them. You can also drizzle with chocolate syrup or whipped cream if desired.
