To Our Families...
(Written by Emily Thomas)
We encourage Napp families to view childcare not only as a chance to grab a well deserved date night, but also as an opportunity of enrichment for their children. Even if a sitter is only coming in to transition a child from dinner to bedtime - that time between matters. Our educated and experienced sitters know that building routines to support the transitions of your child’s day is imperative. Children are still learning that these processes are an important part of caring for themselves. Here at Napp, we can help you find someone who’s invested in helping your child develop these healthy routines. This month we bring you helpful tips on utilizing Napp to its fullest potential for your family.
All in the Details: Gig post should include a brief overview of what is expected, sitter responsibilities for the time of care and any specifics pertaining to the children and/or household. This is a chance to let the sitters get to know you and your family’s needs a bit better!
Check out our blog post, The Ins + Outs of Family Gig Posts for prompts on how to make the most of your gig postings.
Consider Your Rate: The app defaults to the appropriate going rate for the day and time of your post, but you are able to customize your rate as needed or desired. We suggest taking a few factors into consideration when deciding your rate:
Last minute, same day or next day care request are generally more enticing when posted at a slightly higher rate
Make it worth it! If you have a request that is less than 3 hours, consider a rate that would compensate appropriately for a shorter amount of time.
A family’s location or the distance a sitter may need to travel. We know this hard to determine without knowing where you sitters are coming from, but if you are generally a bit from most central locations, this may be something to consider
**Reminder! You can always remove your post and post at a higher rate or for different times if you aren’t receiving requests for the initial gig post**
Waiting in the Wings: Did you know we have sitters ready and waiting to take gigs? Utilize our “Available Sitters” feature to browse sitters with availability and request them directly. They will have a rate, and any specific notes, attached to their availability. Take the opportunity to review each sitter's profile which reflects their personal childcare experience and background.
Booking with a Specific Sitter: We know you’ve got ones you’d love to book again! If you are interested in booking directly with a specific sitter, you are more than welcome to let them know that you are making a post available for them to request. We are working to build a way for families to send requests directly to specific sitters, but in the meantime, please know that it is quite alright to let your faves know that you are about to make a post available. You may also reach out to us at info@nappnetwork.com if you have a specific sitter in mind or are looking for someone that you have not had the chance to book with yet and so we can let them know and have them ready to request if they are available. We do also allow sitters to post their availability (this is not required, so it is not a concrete indication of all of our sitters and their availability), so you can easily scroll through and request them from the Available Sitters screen if they are available.
SafetyPIN 101: Napp sitters are criminally, financially, and behaviorally screened to ensure a safe, reliable, and trustworthy relationship with the communities and families we serve. SafetyPIN is like a seal of approval for the internet age and an imperative step for working in the childcare field. SafetyPIN uses a 4-pronged process that goes beyond the standard background check that other companies offer. In addition to completing a traditional background check, they also screen criminal, financial, and personal history. The company takes all of that information combined and creates a behavioral profile. If the sitter meets their criteria, they are awarded a unique SafetyPIN and able to work with our company.
Sitter/Family Ratings and Issue Resolution: If any issues arise involving your sitter that would result in a less than average rating please reach out to us prior to rating them in the app. We strive to meet the needs of our sitters and families alike and are always available to handle any matter in question. Once discussed, you are welcome to move forward with rating your sitter. We apply this same rating policy to our sitters.
Friendly Reminder: Please don’t steal our sitters! All relationships made through Napp are to stay within the network and MUST be booked within the app. Should you wish to move forward with a sitter for a more permanent placement please contact us at info@nappnetwork.com. Any jobs booked outside of the network are subject to a fee to be charged to both family and sitter. We are here to help you connect wherever you desire, just let us know how we can help!
