The Art of Play
Napp’s Summer Guide: Now Available to ALL
Play is so important for kids, it gives them the opportunity to discover, explore, use their imagination, learn, and grow. With so many toys at our disposal that light up, sing, and do the playing for the child, Napp aims to create play-based learning experiences instead.
If a child is not used to this type of explorative play it may take some getting used to so don’t get discouraged. You can always modify an activity to better fit their age range and skill level.
Fine motor skills are the movements a child makes using their small muscles, like those found in the fingers and wrists. When they pick up a bean and put it in a cup, they are using those fine motor skills. Fine motor activities are the activities that focus on developing those more precise movements and help the child strengthen their hand-eye coordination. Fine motor activities support their coordination, dexterity, and muscle strength. They increase fine motor skills when they have the opportunity to manipulate materials in a variety of ways.
Gross motor skills are abilities that involve the large muscles of the arms, legs, and torso. Running, jumping, swinging a bat, are all examples of gross motor movements. Summer is the perfect time to hone in on those gross motor skills and get outside!
Napp’s Summer Guide was created to provide our sitters with resources and activities to share on the job and after a tough start to the year, we are making the guide available to ALL!
